As I write this, I am currently pursuing my computer science degree at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), and I’m about a year away from finishing. The journey has been challenging but rewarding, and it’s exciting to think about where this will lead in the next stages of my life and career.
For the past five years, I’ve worked at Walmart as an Asset Protection Associate, a role that has taught me valuable skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience. While it has been a great experience, my ultimate goal is to transition into a tech-focused role within Walmart as a full-stack developer once I complete my degree. I believe my experience with the company will give me a solid foundation for contributing to its technological growth. However, I’m keeping my options open. If the right opportunity doesn’t present itself at Walmart, I’ll explore other avenues in the tech industry where I can put my skills to use.
To better prepare myself for the future, I’ve been teaching myself JavaScript alongside frameworks like Next.js. Balancing school, work, and self-learning can be difficult, but coding is something I enjoy, and it’s a crucial skill for my career goals. The more I learn, the more excited I become about creating meaningful applications that can solve real-world problems.
As I move forward, I am focused on continuously improving my skills, finishing my degree strong, and stepping into a career that aligns with my passion for technology and development. The future feels bright, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.
